Spring is here! That means it’s time for the annual spring cleaning plan, and that includes the shed that you have been neglecting all winter. Now it’s time to prep your shed for the summer months ahead. Your shed may be a little neglected, but it’s an essential resource when keeping organized for your spring and summer activities. Spring cleaning doesn’t have to be a horrible, tedious task. With these tips, you can get your shed cleaned quick and easy, and they will help you STAY organized.
Here are some helpful tips that can help you get started. Get ready, set, CLEAN!
CLEAN OUT EVERYTHING AND START WITH A FRESH SPACE.
First, start by cleaning out your shed, removing all the dirt, and sweeping out all the cobwebs that may have grown during the winter months. Move out your tools and set them aside, such as your lawnmower, trimmer, and all your other garden tools and supplies.
GET RID OF THINGS YOU DON’T NEED TO CREATE THE MOST OF YOUR SPACE.
Clear out any unused items to make room for more storage space. You might need to store away some of those winter items like holiday decorations, shovels, and snowblowers. To make more room, get rid of some things, take them to a local thrift store or have a yard sale to eliminate unwanted items. That goes for anything you don’t need or that doesn’t work anymore, keep open space for more needed things. This way, you can really get spring cleaning organized.
ADD SHELVES, CABINETS, AND HOOKS FOR EASY ACCESS TO ITEMS.
Create more storage space by adding shelves. Shelving is an excellent addition to your shed and creates a lot more usable space. For sheds, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on anything fancy either. Basic wooden or metal shelves that can hold a large amount of weight will work best.
Hooks and cabinets are a great way to hang up any garden tools or sports equipment. Hooks are also easy to install and will allow you to stay organized and easily access everything you need.
Make sure you’re utilizing the space you have as much as you can. Not only do shelves help, but mounting your bicycles can also be a great way to save space. Try using a bike mount on the walls, so you’re not tripping over your bikes.
LABEL EVERYTHING TO KEEP ORGANIZED.
Stay organized by labeling your storage bins and keeping them on the shelves you have created. Label each bin or shelf; that way, it’s easy for you or your family member to find what they are looking for and put it back exactly where it belongs. Try getting bins and baskets for any sports equipment that could be lying around as well.
